Kindergarten learn to read program!

The goal of the Kindergarten program is to give students the necessary tools to be independent readers. Designed in a logical, common sense way, children begin reading early in the program. We use a variety of resources and curriculum to accomplish this task.

One of these is the Learn to Read with Ace and Christi. This dynamic program incorporates a child's natural love of animals with a strong phonics program. The adventures - or misadventures - of many lovable animals are presented in concert with various letter sounds. For instance, the animal companion for the letter "B" is buffalo. Not only do children learn the sound and written formation of the letter itself, but will learn facts about the animal, too! Animal Science provides interesting information and activities about the animals.

We also use books from BJU (Bob Jones University) as well as A Beka (Pensacola Christian College).

Math concepts are taught along side the reading, and compliment each other. This integrated program gives the child the proper foundation needed to succeed in school.

Bible lessons are an important part of the curriculum, reinforcing reading skills and whetting the child's appetite for God's Word. These concentrate on reading and listening to the Bible and comprehending many of its principles. Throughout the school year, your child will be encouraged to develop biblical character traits such as being appreciative, courageous, friendly, patient, respectful, and truthful... in all 60 positive attributes!

And, of course, in addition to academics, the children will participate in a variety of activities designed to promote the child's physical potential from fine motor development (hand/eye coordination), to gross motor coordination.

*A "Reading Readiness" test will be administered to all children before entering the Kindergarten program. In some cases a child may be placed in the Preschool program before progressing to the Kindergarten program.
